An online wedding

Last Sunday was a special day for my family because my oldest cousin got married. She has always been like an older sister, someone I turn to whenever I need advice. Unfortunately, the hours of flight and the geographical distance that separated us did not allow me to attend the wedding in person.

To ensure that I was a part of her big day, I woke up at 5AM and FaceTimed her while she was getting ready. It was a small yet meaningful way to share the excitement and offer support during the early preparations.

Earlier in the week she had sent me a package with the condition that I could not open it until the day of the wedding. That morning, with tears in my eyes, I finally unwrapped the package, revealing a breathtaking watercolor bouquet. The beauty of the painting captured the essence of the occasion, and the thoughtful gesture overwhelmed me.

That morning my phone rang while I was buying breakfast for an AKPsi event. It was my mother calling on FaceTime because they were entering the church, and my family did not want me to miss the moment. My heart was there with them, and I experienced a mix of emotions. I was very happy for her new journey but I could not stop crying for not being able to witness it firsthand. It felt surreal to be running errands while simultaneously witnessing an online wedding.

Technology allowed me to virtually participate in the celebration and witness the beginning of their journey despite being miles away. I could witness the radiant smiles and the overall joyous atmosphere. It was a reminder of the power of staying connected, especially during significant moments in the lives of our loved ones.

In conclusion, my cousin's wedding was a truly memorable occasion that strengthened the bonds within my family. Despite the physical distance, waking up at 5 am to connect with her while she got ready allowed me to be a part of the preparations. Technology played a crucial role in bridging the geographical gap, ensuring that I could share in the happiness of her wedding day. I am overjoyed for my cousin and her husband and I can’t wait to create more memories together in the future.
